PCS has been working with five Scottish local authorities in its initial two-year pilot since 2007.

 

We are very grateful to each of them for their help, cooperation, encouragment and enthusiasm during this time.

We work closely in partnership with the Education deparment.

The Education Department provides an education service through seven secondary schools, twenty-four primary schools of which nine have nursery classes, four nursery schools, two family centres and one school for children with special needs.

East Renfrewshire is recognised as having a high achieving Education Department with many of its services considered the best in Scotland.

The Department is committed to continuous improvement and to further its vision of Inclusion, Achievement and Progress for All.

Sports Development
The Council has a commitment to develop opportunities for participation in physical activity, and assist the development of specific sports. To facilitate this there are several teams of professionals with very focussed remits. The teams have been appointed to deliver programmes to children and young people and to train and skill older children and adults using physical activity and sport.

The key components of all the activities delivered by sports development staff are that they are fun, safe and progressive. Achievements of all participants are recorded, recognised and celebrated in various ways.

Staff and coaches are qualified, registered and operate to a code of conduct.

The primary PE team deliver the Clackmannanshire PE Plan to every nursery and primary school pupils. The other teams ensure that all primary, secondary and special schools have extra curricular sports clubs, with a particular emphasis on opportunities for children with special needs. There are activities and Free Swimming for 10 weeks of the school holidays, Events, festivals, competitions and leagues for school teams and individuals. A programme of sports training is available for volunteers, parents, teachers, senior pupils and students.
