Teachers...

What can we do as teachers?  Prepare pupils for the future!

Learning through health and wellbeing promotes confidence, positive attitudes, and emotional, social and physical development.

The PCS programme is aligned with Curriculum for Excellence and its three key principles of Honoring the Game, Redefining Winning and Filling the Emotional Tank will help you ensure that children and young people develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, capabilities and attributes necessary for them to be global citizens.

The PCS programme helps practitioners’ bring health and wellbeing experiences and outcomes to life and fosters health and wellbeing in families and communities through its work with all the key influencers on a child’s life.

It helps harness the experience and expertise of teachers as well as the experience and expertise of parents, coaches and sports clubs to make a positive contribution towards the development of an education system that promotes and supports the highest possible standards of attainment and achievement.

Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport and unique vehicles to teach children and young people character life lessons. Participation promotes the development of physical competences, improved aspects of fitness and the development of personal and interpersonal skills and attributes.

As teachers, PCS will help you learn to:

• inspire young people to be the best they can be in sport and life.

• promote the true value of sport in achieving the aims of the Curriculum for Excellence.

• reinforce our key messages by promoting Positive Coaching Scotland to the other key influencers in the children’s sporting life – parents, coaches, other teachers and sports clubs.

Positive Coaching Scotland: Developing young people through sport!

"The East Renfrewshire Education Department values of Inclusion, Achievement, Ambition and Progress for all is mirrored by the PCS philosophy that everybody is important, everybody is special and everybody can learn. Often sport runs counter to this because of a win-at-all-cost approach. We realise the value in PCS philosophy for all our schools in improving the learning and teaching experience"
